A small, quiet ritual
AltarWell started with a simple idea: a candle is one of the easiest ways to mark a moment and slow down for ten minutes.
Lighting a candle to begin something, to pause, or to give thanks is a habit found in many cultures. We wanted candles that fit that habit: good-looking enough to keep on a shelf, simple enough to use any evening, and scented to suit the mood of each part of the month.
What we make
Six candles, each paired with a moment in the lunar cycle, from the New Moon to Gratitude. Every candle is hand-poured with soy wax and an eco wick into a 9 oz glass jar by our small-batch production partner in New Hampshire, then finished with an original AltarWell label.
How we talk about candles
Our candles are made for ambiance, relaxation, meditation and intention-setting. When we mention moon phases or the traditional associations of a scent, that's cultural context, offered for reflection. We don't make promises about outcomes, and we never will.
